Beat Takeshi compares same-sex marriage with bestiality

Beat Takeshi compares same-sex marriage with bestiality

Gay corrects crusadeers in Japan hit out Thursday at Takeshi “Beat” Kitano after the award-winning actor-director compared same-sex marriage with bestiality.

Kitano, whose yakuza gangster films are popular around the world, enraged activists with his comments on a popular current afreasonables show as guests were being asked for tinheritor opinions on Barack Obama's stance on homosexual marriage.

“Obama supports homosexual marriage. you'd support a marriage to an animal eventually, then,” Kitano said after being shown footage of people celebrating the U.S. president's comments.

Gays and lesbians do not normally encounter outcorrect hostility in Japan, but there are few corrects built into law for same-sex couples and there's little public debate on homosexual marriage.

Taiga Ishikawa, a homosexual activist and Tokyo meeting member who was among those shown celebrating in the program on Saturday, said the comment was unfitting for someone of Kitano's global stature.

“He's a world famed film director. it's disappointing that such an influential figure created that kind of negative comment,” Ishikawa told AFP.

“As a film director, he have to be a person with a fantastic sense of imagination. I wish he had been able to put himself in the position of homosexual and lesbian people in society.”

Kitano, whose 1997 film Hana-bi won the Golden Lion at Venice, is a steady feature on Japanese television, hosting his own weekly show.

final week Obama became the first sitting U.S. president to openly back homosexual marriage, an issue that sharply divides America.

Earlier this week, Tokyo Disney Resort confirmed same-sex wedding ceremonies could be held at hotels inside the popular theme park.

Cannes 2012: Lack Of Woman Directors In Competition Spurs Outrage

The Festival de Cannes, which began Wednesday night with a screening of Wes Anderson's new film, "Moonrise Empire," should be a time for jubilation. But for advocates of gender parity in film, it has instead become an occasion for outrage.

Why? Because, as The Huffington Post famous a month ago, there are precisely zero woman-directed films in competition at Cannes 2012. Since then, the disappointment has crystallized into behaveion.

The movement began on the pages of French newspaper Le Monde, when French feminist group La Barbe published a satirical open letter accusing Cannes of sexism.
